H.B. (Heather) Clark has spent most of her life in Key West. “There is just no place like it anywhere else in the world,” she says. “It may take a village to raise a child, but it takes an entire island to raise an artist.” And the island of Key West has provided the type or nurturing and support that has enabled her to create the pieces we see here.

H.B. began her creative journey in Lexington, Kentucky. She discovered stained glass in a class and knew she had found her medium. She abandoned her traditional artistic training and never looked back.

After experiencing some problems with lead toxicity, H.B. was forced to create a lead-free process. She developed her own unique style of glass mosaics which actually allowed her greater artistic freedom. These pieces are also very strong and can withstand a Category 3 hurricane.

H.B.’s work may be seen in more than 20 public spaces in Key West, including The Restaurant Store, Harpoon Harry’s, Eden House, Café Sole, The Rum Barrel, Ambrosia Guest House, The Gardens Hotel, and many more.
