Giovanni Novara has been painting forever, even though this artistic vein was set aside for years due to his career as a journalist for various Italian newspapers. He is an accomplished printmaker as well, and thanks to these passions he has been making a name for himself in Key West.

Giovanni captures sensations suggested by nature or by everyday objects and emotions. He is a fierce promoter of ‘pure’ drawing, without embellishment, strictly respectful of perspective and proportion. He also loves carving, especially on wood and linoleum, a skill he cultivated for years as a self-taught artist, and later perfected at the Bottega del Tintoretto printmaking studio in Venice, Italy.

Novara’s one-man show is an anomaly among the usual Key West artistic productions, as it departs significantly from the local flavor.
